How to use WordPress presentation

WordPress is a powerful website publishing platform which can be extended to be used for any manner of content managed websites. Jonny, one of our Directors recently ran a workshop explaining how to get started with WordPress at Get Set For Growth.

WordPress is one of the easiest content management systems to get up and running – and with over a decades experience on this platform, The Designery know how to make it jump through hoops! We develop bespoke themes and plugins that not only are a perfect fit for your business, but also are highly optimised to perform quickly across multiple devices.

With over 20% of all websites now using WordPress it should be top of your list when considering how you are going to manage content on your next website.

You can take a look at the slides he presented below, some of the key takeaways were:

WordPress is free, Open Source software
There is no on-going license fee or special software required to use WordPress.

WordPress requires a common set of web server functionality to run
A common install will run on Apache (web server), MySQL database and PHP scripting support.

As with most CMS, WordPress separates your content and the ‘display layer’
Content is stored in the database – not in flat files (like HTML). The display layer is controlled by your WordPress theme.

WordPress can easily be extended with plugins
There are literally thousands of free (and commercial) plugins that add extra functionality to WordPress.
